    Seamfly fishing glossary

The boundary between two currents of different speeds, where fish often hold to ambush food.

Seams are prime fish-holding lies. Trout position themselves in the slower side of a current seam, where they can hold position with minimal effort while food drifts past in the faster adjacent current.

    Where to Find Seams

    • Alongside rocks and boulders
    • Along undercut banks
    • Where riffles transition to runs
    • At tributary confluences
