    Dubbingfly fishing glossary

Natural or synthetic fibers twisted onto thread to form the body of a fly.

Dubbing is one of the most fundamental fly tying materials. It's applied by twisting fibers around the tying thread, then wrapping to create a tapered, buggy body.

    Types of Dubbing

    • Natural: Rabbit, hare's ear, beaver, muskrat — great for buggy textures
    • Synthetic: Ice Dub, SLF — adds flash and sparkle
    • Blends: Combine natural + synthetic for the best of both worlds
